July Currently

Oh. My. Word. Can you believe that is is almost July? I can't. This also means I will be in Europe in less than a week. Eeekkkk! I am so excited but I still have so much to do. In the meantime, I am linking up with Farley from Oh' Boy 4th Grade for her monthly linky.

Listening: I LOVE watching the Food Network. Chopped is one of my favorite shows. I think I have seen almost every episode. I really like seeing what the chefs come up with in a short amount of time.

Loving: I live in Western Washington. Generally, our summers are pretty mild but lately we have been having some beautiful weather. My favorite thing to do when the weather is nice is to spend it one the beach. Take a look at the beaches near me...a little to rocky to lay out. However it is perfect for a lawn chair and a good book.

Thinking: I have not had a chance to clean my house since I have been out of school. Tomorrow I am going to have to stop procrastinating and just getting it done. In a couple of days I will be going to Europe. I hate coming home to a messy/dirty house.

Wanting: I desperately need a pedicure. Endless hours on my feet throughout the year mean that my feet are gross. (Perhaps a little too much information. Sorry!)

Needing: After 4 days at a conference about my National Boards Certificate, I really need to go through all that information so I don't forget to do any part of it.

Tips, Tricks, and Hints: Try to post a couple times a week on your blog. Your followers want to know what is going on with you and hear about all your interesting ideas.

Enjoy your weekend.

Five for Friday (June 28)

Hey All! It's Friday! I have been officially out of school for a whole week. Ahh....so wonderful! I am linking up with Kacey at Doddle Bugs Teaching for Five for Friday.

One
I got out of school on Thursday and I immediately went to a conference 2 days later. My state offers a wonderful program called Jump Start for teachers that are in the process of getting their National Board Certificates. They jam all this great information on how to approach your National Boards into 4-days. As you can imagine, it ends up being 4 very LONG days but definitely worth the effort.

Day 1: Homework already.

Two
My conference was about 6 hours away from my house. Luckily I have a couple of friends in the area. After a full day of jamming my brain full of standards, assessments, and rubrics I was at least able to spend the evenings with my friends I haven't seen in a while. One of my friends just got this adorable kitten.

So cute!

Three
While I was at my conference I also found out there was a Hobby Lobby just down the road. Unfortunately there is not one by where I live. After going, I realized perhaps that was a good thing. I was barely able to contain myself. There were so many cute things there. I'll just have to plan a trip back so I can go again.
I am planning on using some of this fabric to cover my bulletin boards.
Four
I get to spend my summer going through a little light reading. Surprisingly I can't wait to get started. I have heard about some of the books from other teachers but I haven't had time to read the books yet. I'm excited to see how I can use them in my classroom next year.

Five
There are only 2 more days to enter my 100 follower giveaway. There are a TON of great prizes. Don't forget to enter.

Happy Friday!

My Favorite Things Linky: Beauty Basics

It's Thursday! I am linking up with Halle from Across the Hall in Second Grade for her weekly linky. This week we are talking about beauty basics.

I love using Bare Minerals. I have blogged about this before, but it is so light on my face. I hardly feel it on there even when I get warm. Plus, it is the best product I have found to hide my dark circles under my eyes the best.

Biosilk is a product to put in your hair to protect it from the sun and heat. I love the way it smells and it makes my hair feel so soft. You can also use it as lotion but I normally stick to keeping it in my hair.

I do have some favorite at Sephora but I love going in there to try different colors of eye shadow. My hands are always covered in different colors of eye shadow by the time I finally pick colors to actually buy.

I have a bit of a wave to my hair. My hot iron has saved me from having a bad hair day too many times to count. The key is to make sure it is really hot. If it is not hot enough my hair gets frizzy. I hate when that happens.

I have been using the same type of mascara since high school. I love using Cover Girl.

Don't forget to head on over to Across the Hall in Second Grade to link up your beauty favorites.

Are You Lovin' Some Blogs?

Hey all!

I am fortunate to live in a state that has a 4-day conference set up for teachers that are interested in getting their National Board Certificate. I got out of school last Thursday and hopped in the car for a 6 hour drive on Sunday.

Today was Day 1! Oi! Information overload. I even have homework. I still have 3 more days and a ton of information to get through.

In other news....Have you heard? Google is getting rid of their news feed starting July 1! (Ahhh!!!)  Before you freak out....I have great news.... check out Bloglovin. Have you heard of this website yet? The sign up with this site is done within 10 minutes AND Bloglovin will transfer all the blogs you follow with Google Reader. Sound simple? (It is!) Tori from Tori's Teacher Tips has wonderful step by step instructions on her blog. I'm linking up with Tori for this wonderful linky.

Don't forget to check out my giveaway before June 30th. There are a bunch of great bloggers that donated products.

I am dead on my feet. Hopefully I don't dream of National Board Entries too. Haha

Five for Friday (June 21)

Hey all!

I'm a day late on my Five for Friday but yesterday I was enjoying my first day of summer break by doing absolutely nothing. It was wonderful! So I am linking up with Kacey from Doddle Bugs Teaching today to bring you my five random things of my week.

One

I reached 100 followers earlier this week. Since I started my blog in January, I have met a ton of wonderful teachers. Thank you for supporting and encouraging me. The giveaway ends on June 30th. Click here to check out the prizes and enter.

Two

One of my students was standing in front of me when I was taking pictures of field day. She thought it was a hilarious picture.

Field day was fun but exhausting. We spent the morning rotating around 17 stations. Whew! What a busy day!

Three

We cleaned up the classroom on Thursday. My students were so excited to use shaving cream on their desks that they were really good at following directions.

Four

On the last day of school I had a parent hand me a bag and say "We should have been giving these to you all year long for teaching our child." Haha First time I have ever had a parent tell me that!

Five

I have T-minus 13 days until I will be here. I will be going to Amsterdam, Vienna, Berlin, and Prague. I am so excited! Anybody interested in doing some guest posting while I am gone?

Have a good weekend!
