November Currently

Hey all!

I am linking up with Farley from Oh' Boy 4th Grade for her monthly linky, Currently.

Click on her button to take you to her blog.

Listening: Top Chef
I love watching Top Chef. I have already seen this episode so it is more background noise than actually watching the show.

Loving: Recently I played Cards Against Humanities. If you have never played the game, it is the adult version of Apples to Apples. It is so funny. I have not laughed that hard in such a long time. It was a great game for Game Night. It is also completely inappropriate. :)

Thinking: Next week I have conferences. We actually have no students on Thursday and Friday because we use those days to meet with parents. That being said, I haven't even thought about what we will be doing next week. Thank goodness I still have Sunday to figure this all out!

Wanting: Have you seen those pictures of Tieks all over Instagram and Facebook? I have been admiring them and trying to convince myself that spending almost $200 on a pair of shoes is worth it. After I destroyed another pairs of flats that I just bought 2 months ago, I am almost ready to take the plunge. I especially love this color.

Needing: I got engaged about a month ago. We just figured out the venue and our wedding date. Now on to the dress. I have spent hours some time on Pinterest checking out pictures but I have not actually tried any dresses on.

Reading: If I am able to read for pleasure, I love to read books that are mindless. I already read so much for school that requires you to analysis each word and chapter. Sometimes I just want to get caught up in simple characters. I am currently reading "Rock Chick" by Kristen Ashley. I read this book in a couple of days. It progresses pretty quickly and the keeps you interested. It was just what I was looking for.

Happy November everyone! Don't forget to check out all of the other Currentlys.

Five for Fraterday

Hey friends! It's been a while since I have posted. I have missed it.

I am linking up with Kacey from Doodle Bugs Teaching for Five for Friday. This week it is going to be a random collection of things that have been going on for the last month.

Check out my awesome new blog design! I am in love. I am all about the colors and the fonts. Megan from A Bird in Hand did an awesome job. She was super easy to work with and my blog was finished a lot earlier than I expected. I would recommend Megan to anyone that was looking at starting a blog or getting a new design.

A Bird in Hand Designs

I finally uploaded my pictures from my trip to Iceland onto my computer. I love the picture gallery idea I have been seeing all over Pinterest. I just have the hard part of deciding which pictures I want to print. Here are the ones I've picked so far.

My boyfriend asked me to marry him! I said "YES," of course! We celebrated by drinking beer at our local brewery.

I am loving fall. This is my favorite time of year. I love wearing scarves, boots, and drinking/eating all things pumpkin. I tried my hand at butternut squash chipotle bisque. (Click on the link for the recipe.) Delish! It is a little mild (heat wise). So if you want it spicier you can always add in more chipotle.

However I have been enjoying my new home. Lately we have been getting views like this.

Enjoy your weekend!

Meet the Blogger Linky

Hey all!

One of my favorite things about blogging is meeting other teacher bloggers. I stumbled on this wonderful linky hosted by Stephanie from Falling into First that introduces bloggers. What a great way to meet new people! Here is a little more information about me...

I am Krystyn. I'm 30 year old teacher and blogger living in Washington State. This will be my 5th year teaching 2nd graders.

My sweetie and I.
I met my boyfriend at school. He worked at the Boys and Girls Club that is located at my school.

Q: These Are a Few of My Favorite Things

I love to travel. I'll be heading to Iceland on Thursday. Here are a few pictures from last year's adventure: Germany, Austria, and Czech Republic.

My family are huge soccer fans.

Q: If You Weren't a Teacher, What Would You Be?

When I was in high school I wanted to be a professional photographer. I love taking pictures and capturing specific moments.

Q: Three Little Words That Describe You

Loyal. Creative. Family-oriented

Q: Finish This Sentence, "________, Said No Teacher Ever!!

This pretty much describes my Friday night.

Q: It's Your Birthday And You Can Invite Anyone To The Party. Who Are You Inviting?

Miranda Lambert and Blake Sheldon. They just look like they are having a ton of fun and I love their music.

Q: If Someone Wrote a Book About Your Life, What Would Be the Title?

Travels and Adventures

Q: You Get To Pick One Superpower. What Is It?

Teleportation for sure. I love to travel and go on adventures but sometimes I don't enjoy the time it takes to get there.

Q: What's Your Favorite Quote?

I have a ton of favorite quotes but I only picked a few to include.

Q: If You Had to Sing One Song On American Idol, What Would It Be?

"Dead or Alive" by Bon Jovi

I love that song! Every time it comes on I sing it at the top of my lungs. (My poor boyfriend.)

Q: Are You a Morning Person or Night Owl?

I am a little bit of both but I would say mostly a Night Owl. I have been staying up pretty late recently. Which is all going to have to change once school starts.

Q: What's Your Favorite Resource You've Created?

I really like my Measurement Madness supplement unit. There are so many great hands-on activities in this unit. These are always my student's favorite math activities.

Q: Share Something We Might Not Know About You!

I get really grouchy when I am hungry. I try to keep snacks close by to prevent completely biting anyone's head off.

This e-card makes me laugh.

Head over to Stephanie's blog to read about all of your favorite bloggers.

August Currently 2014

Where o' where did July go?  Is anyone else feeling that?

I am linking up with the wonderful Farley from Oh' Boy 4th Grade for her monthly Currently.

Listening: I love the Food Network. I'm pretty sure Chopped with my favorite show on that channel. Diners, Dive Ins, and Dives is a close 2nd. They also post all of the restaurants they visit on the Food Network website. Every time I am visiting a new city I check the list. It has some great suggestions but there is usually a line.

Loving and Wanting: It has been in the 80's in Seattle. (Say What?!) It has almost been too hot for my Pacific Northwest skin. Also, my new house gets pretty hot in the afternoon. Hence the cold drink. :)

Seattle
My front yard.
Thinking: We are in full on unpacking mode. I have been sharing some of the pictures on my Instagram account. @msrichardssmusings My wonderful boyfriend got talked into hanging curtain rods on his day off today.

Needing: My family has a bad tendency to get grumpy when we are hungry. My boyfriend calls it hangry. (I'm not sure where he got it, but I have heard it before.) The lovely Rachelle Smith from What the Teacher Wants and For Blogness' Sake posted this tank on her Facebook page the other day. This tank is perfect for me.

Tank is from Ruffles with Love
First day: Teachers have an inservice Sept 2nd and we have an all-school Open House after the inservice. Students start Sept 3rd. I still have a trip to Iceland in August before school starts for me. I can't wait!

Enjoy the rest of your summer (if you have any left) Don't forget to head over to Farley's blog to link up.
